Dial Tone Recovery
A dial tone recovery requires creating a new empty database on a Mailbox server to replace a failed database. This empty database is referred to as a dial tone database, and it allows users to send and receive email messages while the failed database is recovered.
Steps to create dial tone database
- Login to Exchange Server using Administrator credentials.
- Press Win + R, type Services.msc and click the ‘OK’
- Stop the services like Microsoft Exchange Search Service, Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller Service, and Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service.
- Browse the corrupt EDB file location
- Rename the folder name of EDB
- Restart the Services like Microsoft Search Service, Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller Service and Microsoft Exchange Information Store Service which were stopped previously.
- Open Exchange admin center and mount the database. Click OK on the popup message to create a EMPTY DATABASE
- Now you can mount a dial tone database on the Exchange server.
Users will get an option to send and receive emails using temporary mailboxes when the Outlook restarts.
Using EdbMails EDB to PST converter, export offline EDB mailboxes to Dial tone database.
