What is basic and modern authentication in Office 365?
Modern authentication, which is based on MSAL (Microsoft Authentication Library and Microsoft Graph) and OAuth 2.0, is known to be a secure authentication method to access your Microsoft Office 365 account. In other words, basic authentication requires each application to pass login credentials and it is not a secure method. That's the reason, here at EdbMails, we give highest priority for the security and we support modern authentication for Office 365.
Modern authentication will use Microsoft sign in page experience and it doesn’t let applications save Office 365 account credentials. In order for an application to be authenticated, you need to log in to your account using the standard Microsoft 365 login and accept an app’s request to access the account. In addition, modern authentication enables the use of multi-factor authentication (MFA), which adds an additional security for your Microsoft 365.
